A lot of power is consumed simply to accelerate the structural components. Our patented system removes these heavy components and replaces them with very lightweight tethers to support and move the lightweight antenna assembly. The tethers are tensioned and their lengths changed by servo driven winches. The winches have low inertia resulting in a very efficient system where the motor power is predominantly used to accelerate the target transmitters. This gives the capability of achieving very high rates and acceleration which is essential for HWIL simulations where the mechanical system is often the weak link.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6>Multi Target Capability<\/h6><p>The image above shows a concept with one antenna module. Multiple targets can be deployed simply by positioning another system one behind the other. Minimal masking occurs because the antenna modules are small and the tethers very thin. <\/p>\n<h6>Low Cost<\/h6><p>The system is low cost because it does away with all the gantry type components and expensive drive systems by replacing them with efficient servo driven winches. The support for the winches can be a relatively simple low cost steel structure instead of a huge concrete structure as used in some instances<\/p>\n<h6>Planar or Spherical Cap Motion Envelope<\/h6><p>The positional arrangement of the winches can provide a simple planar motion (2 degrees of freedom) or a spherical cap motion (3 degrees of freedom) and also angle the antenna module to point at the centre of rotation (5 degrees of freedom). <\/p>\n<h6>Infinite Configurations<\/h6><p>The image above shows a concept produced for the patent application. There are infinite arrangements of the winches to provide different motions (2, 3 or 5 degrees of motion) operating vertically as shown or horizontally or tilted.
