Dual Target Motion System
Project engineer responsible of the design, manufacture and installation of a dual target motion system for MBDA in Stevenage used for HWIL testing of missile seekers.
What makes this special?
The target platform follows a spherical-cap trajectory, curving in both the horizontal and vertical planes. This maintains a constant range between the target and the seeker throughout the trajectory.
Maintaining a constant range provides a significant advantage for RF testing, as the received signal level remains consistent and does not require attenuation to compensate for changes in target-to-seeker distance.
Believed to be the first target motion system to extensively use carbon fibre carriages and curved vertical beams to minimise inertia for maximum performance.
Export - Dual Target Motion Systems
Designed, manufactured & installed a dual target motion system under contract with Acutronic for Roketsan in Turkey.
This features four horizontal curved tracks running carbon fibre carriages supporting a curved vertical carbon fibre beam to achieve exceptional performance
Identical systems have been installed in Vietnam and Poland.
